  • Lake Park Tournament -
  • Rolling Meadows Tournament -
  • Independent Conference -
  • IHSA Sectionals -
  • State Qualifier -

Varsity High Scores:

  • Pommel Horse - X

What is your gymnastics team nickname, if any? Fogues (mainly), others include, Fogey, MoFogey, Mo, and the less popular, but more awesome; Fogetron

Year? Senior

In what events do you compete (most often)? Pommel Horse

When did you begin competitive gymnastics (Grade) Freshman year, no preseason

What do you like most about gymnastics or a specific event? How much time do we have? Lol, what I liked the most about gymnastics was the fact that how well you did in this sport rested solely on your shoulders. When you are on your event, there are no teammates, no timeouts, no water breaks. Just you, and the event (Pommel Horse). But even with this in mind, there is a great sense of camaraderie among the team. Over time you get the feeling that we are more than a team, but really a family. I guess that’s what mainly kept me in this sport.

What do you least like about gymnastics or a specific event? As amazing as gymnastics is, it can drive you INSANE. As coach Anderson once put it “every season you get 4 practices where everything comes easy, the rest are a complete struggle.” (Anderson 2007) Every so often you’ll get days where it seems like you can’t do anything and it will frustrate you like no other. I know that my darkest times in this sport came from when it seemed like I wasn’t improving at all. Over time, I learned that the only solution is to simply try harder.

What do you do to prepare for an event? When I wait in the stands for my event to come up, I usually wear a hoodie or something to keep my muscles warm. Energy drinks help too, but mainly before I go on an event I jump around a lot. Maybe I should get a jump rope?….

Use one to three words that describe you. Devastatingly handsome

What do you consider your greatest gymnastic accomplishment so far? Consistent circles on horse. After learning how to swing decently and to stay on the event, I couldn’t leave the horse. Every practice I would show up and head straight to horse hoping that I could break my previous circle record.

What hobbies do you have? Soccer, volleyball, snowboarding, rock climbing, occasional video games, and Rubik’s Cubes or other brain teasers.

What other sports do you participate in? (IHSA or other) Until last year, I also did soccer and wrestling

Who is your favorite teacher? Why? Mr. Roloff because he is smart enough to have invented calculus.

What is your favorite LPHS subject?  Why? Any math subject because there is always a right answer. In subjects like English, it’s always “The teacher’s answer”. Math always just seemed to come easy to me.

What is your favorite food? Pizza bagels, hands down

What is your favorite TV show? Probably South Park, its gotten a little weird lately but still a classic.

What is your favorite movie? Jaws, 30 years old and still amazing. Definitely Spielberg’s best. (And for those who say the shark looks fake, look at the time period it was shot in, incredibly good I’d say. Besides, you don’t see the shark until the last half hour anyway.)

Who is your favorite band or musician? Blink 182, I almost cried when they split up. Please inform me if they ever do a reunion tour.

What is your favorite website?  www.break.com, chalk full of funny videos of people hurting themselves or each other in a humorous manner.

What is your favorite song? Say what you want, but I would have to say “Dancin’ in the moonlight” by King Harvest, I think I heard that song for the first time when I was 8, and am still not sick of it.

What is your favorite book? 1984 by George Orwell, the only English book I’ve ever enjoyed.

What video game do you like the most? Guitar Hero III, call me a nerd but that game is addicting!

What is something people should know about you, but probably don't? People don’t know much about me ‘cause I don’t talk very much. I guess if people should know anything about me, it would be that I’m friendlier than I appear.

If a movie were made about your life, what would its title be? “Superbad” oh, wait a minute…

Cubs or Sox? Not a huge baseball fan, but def. Sox

What celebrity, television or movie character, or other famous person have you been told you resemble? Embarrassingly, Squidward cuz of my huge head

If you have pets, what can you tell us about them? Got two dogs, one skinny black lab, and one Meaty yellow lab. Shadow (the black one) is quiet and likes to sleep on my bed. Cody (the yellow one) likes to bark and will do anything to make you pet him.

What one word would you use to describe boys high school gymnastics?  Amazingly powerfully unstoppably astonishingly astoundingly mighty robustly deliciously fragrantly terrifyingly gruesomely incredibly good

When you are done with gymnastics at Lake Park, how would you like to be remembered? As the kid who couldn’t circle to save his life junior year, but is coming back senior year with a 9.6 routine. Hopefully I will be remembered as one of the Top 10 Pommel Horse Scorers for Lake Park.

What is the name of the song you would sing on American Idol? What artist? “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen, just because it’s fun to sing and I know all the words.

Describe your dream car. Orange Lamborghini Diablo, hands down.

Who would you take on your dream date? DZ’s sister

Who is the comedian on the 2008 gymnastics team? I’d love to think its myself, but I would have to say Nep cuz he’s always doing funny things

Favorite breakfast food? Make a double decker sandwich using syrup soaked pancakes instead of bread. The bottom section will 2 sausage patties and cheese. The top will have scrambled eggs, bacon, ham, and maybe a little more cheese.

Which gymnastics coach has the best sense of humor? Coach Lee, you should see the comedy tour he did with George Carlin back in the 80’s

What is something you do not want to hear from the coach? Practice is canceled.

Which gymnast is the best dresser on the team? Why? Enrique, because he’s always got some strange new outfit every day. I think we all know why.

What is your favorite phrase from the coach? Which coach? It’s a little too obscene to put on paper, but it was said by Mr. Anderson. Basically anything he says is an instant classic, which make me want to bring a pen and a pad of paper to practice.

Where is your favorite place to relax? My room, listening to iTunes, or my hot tub during the winter

How do you want the 2008 Lake Park gymnastics team to be remembered? As the family that made it to the top

Please describe your most difficult move and for what event you perform that move. Back loops for horse. They’re either hit or miss, which makes it frustrating during practice.

What is your personal goal for the 2008 boys gymnastics season? To Make it on the top 10 scores of Lake Park Pommel Horse. A bit of a stretch, I know, but possible in my mind as long as I can improve on my scissor work.
